GistBox Clipper is an extension for Google Chrome that performs as adware. It relies on multiple distribution methods ‒ users can download it directly from the Chrome Web Store or gistboxapp.com. In addition, users may sometimes notice the presence of GistBox Clipper when they haven't intentionally installed it. This happens when the extension is bundled to freeware. The developers of the Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) promote it as a tool that can help those users, who wish to save and organize code snippets. This feature doesn't come without any "side effects" as the client may also notice many Ads by GistBox Clipper whenever he launches his browser. The ads are commonly in the form of pop-ups and banners, and their purpose is to promote affiliate sites. Clicking on artificially created ads is never a good idea as they may lead to potentially harmful sites. In addition, the intrusiveness of the ads may even slow down Chrome. If you want to keep your browser ad-free, you can always delete GistBox Clipper with an anti-malware program and search for a similar and more reliable application.
