The GamesCenter Search is a browser hijacker that bundles with other free software that you can download off the Internet. When installed, this browser hijacker will move on to set the homepage of any affected browser and the search engine settings to the eanswers.com. A browser hijacker is often part of software bundles on sites of questionable reputation that users may download. Unfortunately, many of those free software bundles do not disclose the full content of what they offer and install. In such cases, users may find themselves surprised by the presence of GamesCenter Search on their computers without their knowledge. The GamesCenter Search browser hijacker also may integrate paid links into its content whenever search engines are used. The added links may look similar to the standard results in the search engine query. Accidental or intentional clicks on these paid links will generate revenue for the makers of these ads, which is the usual modus operandi of pay-per-click advertising.
Learning the objective of this adware means there is no reason to let it stay on an infected computer and generate profit or worse, cause further harm through unsafe advertisement links. Users are advised to remove the GamesCenter Search browser hijacker from their systems as soon as possible to avoid further complications. Whenever the GamesCenter Search browser hijacker is present on a PC, the symptoms that may show up, warning users of its presence on the affected computer may be:
- The browser’s default search provider is changed, as well as the built in search box to eanswers.com.
- The GamesCenter Search may modify the new tab functionality of the affected browser, forcing it to launch a modified search portal page instead of a blank page.
- The GamesCenter Search also may load the Web browser through the GamesCenter Search extension or its add-on.
