The FunRebates browser add-on may be offered to you as a smart shopping companion that can reveal ways to purchase items at lower prices. The FunRebates browser add-on can be found on Funrebates.com and may arrive on your machine as an optional offer in a freeware package. The FunRebates add-on may invite users to complete a short questionnaire that includes their gender, age, marital status and location to provide paid surveys that upon completion would grant you coupons and vouchers to use at online stores. Unfortunately, that information is likely to be used to subject you to a torrent of promotional materials, because the FunRebates add-on is adware. Security researchers report that the FunRebates adware is developed and maintained by Informer Technologies, Inc. and is nearly identical to the CouponUnity and My Coupon Storm adware. The FunRebates adware may load numerous advertisements in your browser, which would result in slow performance and a bad video rendering.

Computers that are infected with the FunRebates adware may not boot fast, and users may be presented with promotions as soon as their OS start. The FunRebates adware may work as a background process, and be listed as a separate thread under your main browser process when using the Windows Task Manager and tools like ProcessHacker. Most versions of the FunRebates adware may be detected by security scanners with the tag EoRezo and open ports to your PC that may not be protected by the Windows Firewall. The ads by FunRebates may appear as banners, pop-up windows and floating ad-boxes that are loaded with offers from less-reputable merchants. The FunRebates adware may block the native ads on trusted e-commerce portals like Amazon and Best Buy to redirect you to partnering online shops. The FunRebates adware may load insecure content in your Internet browser and expose you to Man-in-the-Middle attacks that may grant third parties remote access to your system. The complete removal of the FunRebates adware can be achieved through the implementation of a trustworthy anti-malware suite on your PC.
