FunDial is a web browser add-on that supposedly adds new ways to browser your default pages. FunDial will display your favorite websites in tabs, similar to a smartphone display, allowing you to visit your favorite websites with a single click. While this is something that many web browser can do by default (for example, Google Chrome's default homepage), FunDial's developers have marketed this browser add-on as an aesthetically pleasing tool that makes web browsing easier and more intuitive. Unfortunately, ESG security researchers classify FunDial as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) due to the fact that FunDial makes various unauthorized changes to your Windows Registry and web browser settings that make FunDial more an annoyance than an actually useful browser add-on. More importantly, removing FunDial through normal means is nearly impossible and a complete uninstall of this PUP will usually require the help of a reliable and up-to-date anti-malware solution.

Why PC Security Analysts Advise Computer Users to Avoid Installing FunDial

FunDial makes several changes to the infected computer's settings, which make FunDial particularly annoying to deal with. Some of these changes include making a Windows Registry entry that allows FunDial to start up automatically when the computer user starts up Windows, changing your web browser's security settings so that FunDial can connect automatically to the Internet without your knowledge and hogging up system resources, causing your computer to run more slowly and behave erratically. FunDial has also been associated with browser redirects leading to low quality search engines. Computer users that have installed FunDial will find that their homepage was changed to FunDial and that their default search engine and favorite websites have also been altered to include FunDial. Due to FunDial's intrusive characteristics, ESG security researchers cannot recommend the installation of this program.

Due to the fact that FunDial is difficult to remove through normal means, ESG security researchers recommend the PC user choosing a good anti-malware program to be certain that all files, Windows Registry changes and other alterations to your computer's settings are restored. It is also important to analyze your hard drives to make sure that no malware has entered the computer due to the computer's exposure to unsafe websites caused by FunDial redirects. If you require the type of service FunDial claims to provide, ESG malware analysts recommend using one of the many safe alternatives that can be downloaded without harmful effects on your computer.
