The FreeMaps Toolbar is a browser extension developed by Mindspark Interactive Network. This software is meant to provide users with access to maps, driving directions, and other information that can help them get around the city they are in. This Mindspark product is very familiar to other Mindspark-branded software such as MapsGalaxy and MapsUniverse – extensions, which aim to provide users with quick access to detailed maps and navigation options. However, the installation of the FreeMaps Toolbar will not bring just maps and navigation options to your Web browser – it also will change the default new tab page to a search engine associated with MyWay.com.
The FreeMaps Toolbar may be compatible with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Users who happen to want to install this software will be asked to agree to have their new tab page changed, and there's no way to proceed with the installation without agreeing to this. The search engine that the installation of the FreeMaps Toolbar sets as the default new tab page may display search results that are different from the ones seen on Google, Yahoo or Bing.
Although the FreeMaps Toolbar is not falsely advertised, and it does indeed provide users with some helpful features, it also comes with some setbacks such as the introduction of the MyWay.com search engine as the default new tab page. If you wish to uninstall the FreeMaps Toolbar, this can be done from the list of installed browser extensions. Automatic removal is also an option, so don't hesitate to install a reputable anti-malware scanner that can get rid of this Potentially Unwanted Program in a matter of minutes.
