Error Repair Professional is a fake system optimization tool that was first detected in the fall of 2011. This fake security program sports a simple, stripped-down interface that, at first glance, seems highly convincing. However, do not be fooled by Error Repair Professional's authentic-looking interface and its many bogus claims; Error Repair Professional is nothing more than a Trojan infection designed to steal your money by perpetrating a well-known online scam. Despite its fake scan and error messages, Error Repair Professional has absolutely no capacity to detect or repair errors and, if there is one thing that this application is professional at, is trying to steal your money. ESG security researchers consider that Error Repair Professional is a dangerous malware threat that poses a significant security risk to your computer system's health. It is recommended that you remove Error Repair Professional from your computer immediately with the help of a real, fully-updated anti-malware application. Failure to do so can result in additional malware entering your computer system, your operating system becoming practically impossible to use and in your personal information and online accounts becoming compromised.
Understanding the Error Repair Professional Scam
The Error Repair Professional scam is fairly simple to understand. Error Repair Professional is a Trojan infection that is disguised as a system optimizer or defragmenter tool. When Error Repair Professional is installed on the victim's computer system, Error Repair Professional will pretend to scan the victim's registry and files in order to find potential errors (much like a legitimate system optimizing application would do), However, this scan is all for show; in reality, Error Repair Professional is interested in making the victim believe that the infected computer is extremely damaged and that it can only be fixed if a 'full version' of Error Repair Professional is purchased. By convincing their victims to buy a useless system optimization application, criminals can make an unethical profit while also contributing to the spread of dangerous malware that is often associated with Error Repair Professional. Error Repair Professional can also make the infected computer system manifest other symptoms in order to further the illusion of a severe problem needing to be fixed. Some examples of these kinds of symptoms include frequent crashes, low processor speed, frequent error messages and access to the Internet or to certain applications is blocked (especially those related to computer security).
