The EmojiSearch software from h[tt]p://install.emoji-search[.]com/?pid=11111 should not be mistaken for an application by h[tt]p://emojisearch[.]com/. The EmojiSearch software is promoted via pop-up windows, free software bundles, and adware that may redirect users to h[tt]p://install.emoji-search[.]com/?pid=11111. The advertisements for EmojiSearch may suggest that the program allows you to search for emojis in your browser, but that is a function any decent search engine supports by default. That did not stop almost 4,400 (at the time of research) Google Chrome users from installing the app. However, the EmojiSearch Chrome Extension lacks reviews, and not a single user has given it a rating, which should be somewhat disconcerting. You can find the EmojiSearch extension page at:

Installing the EmojiSearch Chrome extension means you grant it the right to read all unencrypted data exchanged online, as well as allow it to change your search preferences to h[tt]p://feed.emoji-search[.]com. The new default search provided by the EmojiSearch extension is used as a redirect-gateway to h[tt]ps://search.yahoo[.]com where you will find the original Yahoo search engine. The creators of EmojiSearch use tools like Google Analytics and partner with companies like Amazon, Facebook, and Yahoo to deliver targeted commercials to your screen. You should note that the EmojiSearch extension may be used to keep persistent cookies, Web beacons and other forms of tracking technologies on your PC. You can read more about it on h[tt]p://emoji-search[.]com/privacy.html and h[tt]p://emoji-search[.]com/terms.html. Computer security researchers classify the EmojiSearch app as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that may apply undesired changes to your online settings and bypass extensions like Adblock Plus, Ghostery and uBlock Origin. You can clean the tracking tools used by the EmojiSearch extension and delete it with the help of a credible anti-spyware scanner.
