The Easy Coupon Access is a browser hijacker add-on, which may land onto a PC system as part of a software bundle, then it modifies the default browser's home and searches page to hxxp://search.heasycouponsaccess(dot)com without asking for permission beforehand. This behavior turns it into a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP).
There are many browser hijackers in circulation and EasyCouponsAccess pursues the same goal, namely to collect data from the users' browsing history and bombard them with online advertisements tailored to their web searches. To do this, the EasyCouponsAccess changes the default homepage to its namesake one, namely search.heasycouponsaccess.com.
When you perform a search query using this particular search engine, it redirects the search to Yahoo. While the vast majority of the results are identical to the results yielded from a genuine Yahoo search, they may be mingled with online ads leading to potentially unsafe Web locations. It is the clicking on these links that not only channels traffic to those unsafe sites but also generates pay-per-click revenue for the party responsible for developing the add-on, Polarity Technologies LTD.
Should the EasyCouponsAccess hijacker find its way onto a PC system, it should be removed by resetting the browser to its defaults, as well as scanning the machine for any malware leftovers.
