Computer users that are interested in installing the Download Manager Star software from Aztec Media Inc. may want to know that it is a custom build version of the Free Download Manager program by Softdeluxe Ltd. The source code of the original program is uploaded to SourceForge and is available to developers around the globe for creating custom builds. The Download Manager Star software may have features that allow users to download and organize simple HTTP downloads and torrent downloads as well. The Download Manager Star program's interface is the same as the one of the Free Download Manager, which raises concerns about copyright and begs the question: Are Aztec Media Inc. trying to fool users?. Moreover, the Download Manager Star is supported by advertisements, and several security scanners may deem it as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP). You may install the Download Manager Star along with a third-party free program setup that travels bundled with it. The Download Manager Star may edit your Windows Registry to handle your download tasks in Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. The Download Manager Star may become the default program for files that host ongoing downloads and launch when you open Magnet links. As stated above, the Download Manager Star may use pop-up windows to recommend products and services from sponsors and interrupt your Internet activities occasionally. The Download Manager Star is known to use NTP port 123 for many of its operations, and it may not be secure because third parties may intercept data packets and alter them before they are being downloaded on your computer. The Download Manager Star may register several runtime DLLs to run with Windows slow it down. You may want to remove the Download Manager Star by using a credible anti-spyware tool.
