The DivX Browser Bar is a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) that is used to force computer users to use the Conduit search engine. This low quality search engine has been linked to a variety of browser hijacker scams. The Conduit search engine and browser toolbars like the DivX Browser Bar are used to generate revenue from advertising and from affiliate marketing. The Conduit search engine is mainly designed to deliver sponsored search results rather than links to websites associated with the computer user's search terms. It is usually recommended avoiding browser toolbars like the DivX Browser Bar. Although they are often used by software developers to generate advertisement revenue, the main problem with these types of browser toolbars is that they are installed on computer systems without the computer user's permission. Because of this, ESG security researchers strongly advise avoiding the DivX Browser Bar and removing the DivX Browser Bar completely if the DivX Browser Bar has already been installed on your computer.
