DictAddon is a Web browser extension that is distributed on thedictadon.com. DictAddon offers writing and definition related tools to computer users directly from their Web browser. Although DictAddon does what it is advertised to do, security researchers categorize DictAddon as an adware threat. This is because DictAddon is installed as a Web browser add-on, attempts to gain access to certain information that is not strictly necessary for its main purpose and tries to generate advertisement revenue by displaying pop-up advertisements and other marketing content on computer users' Web browsers. Security analysts believe that DictAddon may endanger your privacy and expose your computer to potentially unsafe content.

What to Do When a Tool May Cause More Problems Than Help
DictAddon may be installed on any of the most popular Windows Web browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. The presence of DictAddon may lead to various other problems and allow a third party to gain access to your browsing information. In many cases, DictAddon is bundled with other software and often installed without computer users' knowledge. When installing a freeware program, a PUP like DictAddon or other unwanted Web browser add-ons may be installed automatically. Once installed, these may cause numerous issues such as Web browser redirects, pop-up advertisements and performance problems. To prevent programs like DictAddon from being installed, follow the installation process of any new software carefully and opt out of installing any unknown or unwanted content.
Dealing with DictAddon and Symptoms Associated with this PUP
If DictAddon is installed on your computer, DictAddon should be deleted promptly with the aid of an outstanding security program. DictAddon may be uninstalled using the Windows Control Panel. However, content associated with DictAddon may remain on your computer, so it may be necessary to use a first-rate security application to scan your computer and remove any unwanted content linked to DictAddon that may have remained behind. Some changes may be done by DictAddon to the settings of your Web browser. These changes may need to be restored manually after removing DictAddon.
