DeepDyve is an application that is generated by DeepDyve. DeepDyve is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) that may enter the PC without the computer user's consent, or it may install itself as an extra program bundled with a variety of free applications. DeepDyve may modify system and Web browser settings on the computer system. DeepDyve is specifically designed as an ad-supported tool; therefore, it can also be categorized as adware. As the website of DeepDyve claims, DeepDyve revolutionizes the way the PC user accesses research over the Internet. However, DeepDyve may not work as free software. Computer users may need to pay for a monthly subscription. Upon installation on the PC, DeepDyve may constantly show obtrusive pop-up notifications and advertisements announcing the computer user of a variety of available downloads and probably encouraging him to receive those downloads. DeepDyve may also advice particular types of applications, which might be found irritating by PC users.
