BrowseSmart is a potentially unwanted program/browser add-on produced by SuperWeb LLC. Authors of BrowseSmart declare that it can make the computer user's web browsing more efficient by permitting a variety of website searching, for instance, search results from numerous sources in one place, showing website trust ratings and delivering coupons and offers while shopping online. Although such capability many occur genuine, the BrowseSmart plug-in can be considered to be a potentially unwanted program or adware. BrowseSmart installs on the computer user's web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox without his authorization and knowledge, may create and display a variety of annoying pop-up adverts and trace the PC user's web browsing. PC users may inaccurately download BrowseSmart together with suspicious free software downloads. When installed, the BrowseSmart browser extension may trace the PC user's surfing activity by recording IP address, unique identifier number, OS, browser information, websites visited and viewed, search requests entered and other data. BrowseSmart may result in privacy issues and identity theft.
