Bigkick.biz is a deceptive website that has been created with the sole goal of propagating a browser-based scheme. Numerous similar websites are created daily, and they all try to trick the unsuspecting user into subscribing to their push notification services by clicking an 'Allow' button. Doing so will grant the website the permissions it requires to start delivering advertisements on the affected device and, in turn, generating revenue for its creators.
Bigkcik.biz, in particular, could choose from several social-engineering tactics to display these advertisements to its visitors. The most common one is for the site to pretend to be conducting a captcha check for bots. Anyone who lands on the site will be presented with an image of a human and a robot accompanied by the text:
'Press "Allow" to verify, that you are not robot'
As we said, users who fall for this trick will start seeing various dubious advertisements on their screens. Clicking on any of the displayed advertisements could expose them to further security risks, as the advertisements could redirect to suspicious third-party sites offering Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) masquerading as legitimate software installers.
Typically, users do not land on sites such as Bigkick.biz on their own. They are taken there either through intrusive advertisements or redirects caused by a PUP that has managed to sneak its way onto their devices. If you are experiencing an abnormal amount of redirects, it may be good to conduct a scan with a legitimate anti-malware solution for any suspicious applications.
