Amisites is a browser hijacker capable of affecting the way users get around the Web. Amisites is capable of modifying the browser settings and making the overall user experience much worse than before its presence on a system. If the users become aware of the changes to their browser and how it behaves differently, then they may be dealing with an Amisites.com situation, where they will need to get rid of its presence on the affected machines if they want to return things to normal. The good thing is that the removal of Amisite.com is not problematic, as its presence is similar on all browsers. In its current state, the browser hijacker redirects all search engine queries to the amisites.com website, which is usually not the way affected users browse for answers on the Web.
The fact that this is the case should not lull users into a calm. There is also the possibility the browser hijacker may be collecting information on the user's search queries and thus profiling them for targeted advertisement purposes, selling the data to third-party advertisement companies and even cyber crooks. If a computer is not affected by this browser hijacker, then it might be impossible to reach the Amisites website, as without it your search queries will be redirected to your favorite search engine – most commonly Google automatically. The Amisites.com browser hijacker will not become the default search engine provider of the affected browsers only, but it also will alter its homepage as well.
Amisite.com carries many similarities with another browser hijacker named Nuasearc.com. Although they may be two different domains, there are signs that cause security researchers to believe they may be the product of the same developer or are closely affiliated. At this time there is no information on the developer of the Amisites browser hijacker or their identity, which begs the question of its legitimacy.
