The Aitaobao program shortcuts on your desktop are placed by the Chinese program PPT Assist (PPT美化大师) that may have landed on your PC with Hao123 and the Baidu Toolbar. PPT Assist is a legitimate program that is designed to improve several features in the WPS Office Suite (formerly known as Kingsoft Office). Computer users that use WPS Office may want to keep PPT Assists, but it may place additional shortcuts on your desktop that launch the Aitaobao portable program from Maxthon Asia Ltd. The Aitaobao program is designed to take users to the Taobao.com e-commerce portal that is the largest online retailer in Asia.
The Aitaobao program may work in your system background and collect data like your browsing history, bookmarks collections, and software configuration to direct users to customized content on the Taobao market. Therefore, Aitaobao is considered as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that may provide advertisers with non-personally identifiable information about the activities performed on your PC. The Aitaobao program may send usage statistics automatically, and many users may not approve that. The Aitaobao program may be compatible with all Web browsers running the Gecko, Trident and WebKit rendering engines and redirect users to sponsored content on Taobao.com.
