GlobalDeskSearch

As we said in other articles, the developers of malware are very focused on mobile devices, the macOS especially. Malware security researchers uncovered another mac malware that was named GlobalDeskSearch, which primary distribution method is via false Adobe Flash Payer Updates. Adobe is another target of malware creators that have been using it to spread their creations due to Adobe Flash Player popularity and its vulnerabilities.

Security researchers have classified GlobalDeskSearch as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) due to the deceptive ways it uses to spread and also the activities it performs on the computers it manages to get inside. GlobalDeskSearch is a member of the AdLoad family, which has released numerous versions, all of them up-to-no-good.

The presence of GlobalDeskSearch on a computer will make it slow and irresponsive due to the use of the machine's resources to display sponsored and unwanted advertisements. These advertisements may redirect computer users to corrupted websites. GlobalDeskSearch also may collect the user and the machine data and monitor the activities performed on the affected machine.
