Freshy.com is a dubious search engine that is most likely being promoted through a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program). The task of the PUP is to act as a browser hijacker, and take over certain browser settings to generate artificial traffic and promote the Freshy.com engine. No matter what useful features such third-party search engines may boast to have, users shouldn't rely on them, mainly due to the risk of having their browsing activities tracked.
One of the first signs for the presence of a browser hijacker on your computer or device is the sudden change in the homepage, new page tab, and the default search engine. All of these settings will be modified and set to open the promoted address. The browser hijacker also will establish a mechanism that will protect the settings if the user decides to try and revert them to their initial states.
The information collected by such hoax search engines and the associated browser hijacker PUP could include the user's browsing history, all clicked URLs, and every search conducted in the affected browser.
