The arcadeNet Search is an application that works as a browser extension that you can install to Google Chrome from Chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/arcadenet-search/jffjlgphcbpjklelmklencjbohckfbim. The arcadeNet Search has a clone that is named arcadeNet Start, which you can find at Chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/arcadenet-start/kmbekgimiljakcakngbpabaaofpnoepj. The arcadeNet Search extension is presented as a new tab page replacement for users who like to play Adobe Flash-powered games online. The official store page for arcadeNet Search suggests that it is made by a team of developers associated with Medianetnow.com. However, that is not entirely accurate considering that the arcadeNet Search features the same functionality and almost identical code as several other extensions from Ienjoyapps.com, Mixplugin.com, Njoyapps.com, and Bettersearchtools.com. The arcadeNet Search app is an ad-supported product that generates money by offering access to a custom search engine on Movix.searchalgo.com. When the users follow through with the installation of arcadeNet Search, they are redirected to Movix.ienjoyapps.com/wim/lp/offer/?t1=75&t=cantstopplaying and then to Chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/moviebox-search/mdepocdhogfjacchiigdpmgnnfbjgane. Both movieBox Search and arcadeNet Search require the following privileges to change your new tab page and search settings:
- Read and change all your data on the websites you visit.
- Change your search settings to movix.searchalgo.com.
If our researchers had to describe the plethora of clones associated with arcadeNet Search and movieBox Search they would surely refer to the Stanley Kubrick's "The Clone Wars." The movieBox Search extension is a clone of MyMovie Start by Myappline.com, MixMovie by Mixplugin.com, iMedia Start by Ienjoyapps.com and nJoy Movies Search by Njoyapps.com. On the other hand, arcadeNet Search is a clone of the iGames Search by Ienjoyapps.com, the mixGames Search by Mixplugin.com, gamesZone Search by Njoyapps.com and GoPlay Search (a.k.a. justPlay Search) by Bettersearchtools.com. The gaming series of extensions, as well as the movie series of browser add-ons, are designed to drive traffic to the sub-domains of Searchalgo.com and offer games on better.cantstopplaying.com for free. The network of sites and extensions that bind the products mentioned above has the purpose of driving Internet traffic to Searchalgo.com and allows its owners to earn a substantial ad revenue. The arcadeNet Search extension and its variants may collect non-personally identifiable information like your Internet history and IP address and help advertisers on push applicable discounts, coupons, and vouchers on your screen whenever you load related pages. There may be users who like the new tab powered by Movix.searchalgo.com, but you might not like the redirects to yahoo.com and the lack of working search filters for news. PC users that are not happy with using the arcadeNet Search browser extension from Medianetnow.com can remove it via the Extensions Manager and use a security tool to clean up the tracking cookies it may leave behind.
