Windows Armature Master and Windows Armature Master's clones are associated with the Fake Microsoft Security Essentials Alert Trojan. While it is possible to become infected with Windows Armature Master from other sources, the most common is fthis Trojan. Typically, the Fake Microsoft Security Essentials Alert Trojan will enter a computer by exploiting a vulnerability in that computer's security. Then, Windows Armature Master will display a fake alert from Microsoft Security Essentials that will claim to have found a Trojan on the computer (usually Unknown Win32/Trojan). If the user clicks on this fake alert, Windows Armature Master will then recommend that the user download Windows Armature Master or any of Windows Armature Master's clones, to fix the fake problem. Malware researchers also associate Windows Armature Master with the Zlob Trojan, which works similarly to the Fake Microsoft Security Essentials Alert Trojan.
To prevent Trojan infections, malware specialists advise computer users to apply the following guidelines:
- Stay away from high-risk websites (e.g. adult video websites, file sharing networks, and websites with suspicious advertisements.) If you must frequent these websites, take steps to disable Flash and JavaScript before you do.

- Do not agree to any free online malware scans or other anti-spyware services offered in banner advertisements.
