The StreamlinedDIY application from Mindspark Interactive Network, Inc. is a re-branded version of the HowToSimplified Toolbar. Both applications are promoted to help the user to 'become an expert at any task you choose with 1000s of how to tutorials' as seen on their pages Howtosimplified.com and Streamlineddiy.com. The StreamlinedDIY software is available for installation on Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. The StreamlinedDIY extension is programmed to change the layout of the new tab page on Google Chrome and provide quick links to resources on Inhabitat.com, Abeautifulmess.com, Popsci.com, and Mashable.com, as well as a search bar powered by Hp.myway.com.
The versions of StreamlinedDIY for Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox are known to change more than the new tab page design and alter the user's homepage choice too. IE and MF users will notice that installing the StreamlinedDIY set their homepage and new tab page to Hp.myway.com. Web surfers should take into consideration that advertisers support the development of StreamlinedDIY and the app will require access to the user's bookmarks, themes, browsing history, and downloads log to help marketers offer personalized commercials and search results on Hp.myway.com.
The StreamlinedDIY extension is deemed by security researchers as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP), and users may want to consider uninstalling it. AV programs detect StreamlinedDIY under the tags GrayWare[:not-a-virus]/Win32.StartPage.gen, PUP.WebToolbar.MyWebSearch, PUP.Optional.MindSpark and Adware.MyWebSearch.120. Removing the StreamlinedDIY extension would allow you to set your preferred start page and new tab page. The StreamlinedDIY software is not a threat to your security but may not live up to your expectations and provide links to outdated information. You can remove all files related to the StreamlinedDIY extension with the help of a credible anti-malware tool.
