The Skyrocket Player is a re-branded version of the PlayThru Player and is operated by the same company namely Verti Technology Group, Inc. The Skyrocket Player fills the same niche like the PlayThru app and is designed to play videos from the Web on your desktop and give you access to news, sports, and entertainment. However, the service of the Skyrocket Player does not come for free, and users will be subjected to a torrent of ads in their Web browser and on the desktop. Therefore, security investigators deem the Skyrocket Player as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that could decrease your overall computer performance and limit your Internet bandwidth. The Skyrocket Player will use banners, inline ads, floating ad-boxes, pop-up and pop-under windows to present users with marketing content. Additionally, the Skyrocket Player might attach a plug-in to your Internet client and employ session cookies, web beacons and read your browsing history to display tailor-suited ads. The Skyrocket Player may feature links to low-quality online shops and invite users to install sponsored programs like DiVapton and SpeedUpMyPC. You may wish to take into consideration that the aforementioned software is reported to cause system problems and exhibit adware traits. Moreover, the Skyrocket Player may change your default search aggregator and home page to Butterflysearch.net and Searchput.net that are linked to browser hijackers. Computer users that want to avoid OS stability issues and unwanted ads could use a renowned anti-malware suite to eradicate the Skyrocket Player software.
