Open Windows explorer --> C drive, Program Files --> Delete the Personal Security Folder.
Start --> Run, type msconfig --> Startup --> Untick Personal security --> exit without restart. (when you next turn your PC on, a message will appear advising a change ha been made to program list that starts up. Tick not to show the message again and continue as normal)

The program doesn’t let you download any software. We sent a message to the company that created Personal Security on the “customer service” link that we would track them down and sue them for attacking our kids computer. They emailed this solution and it worked in less than one minute. We still downloaded and ran an antispyware program afterwards to make sure nothing remained. This was their response which worked:

“Dear customer,

Thank you for contacting Customer Support Center.
Please follow my instructions to uninstall the program:
Paste the following string to Windows Explorer address bar and execute it (Press Enter key):
C:\Program Files\Common Files\PSecurityUninstall\Uninstall

or

1. Open My computer, choose Disk C;
2. Find Program Files=>Common Files=>PSecurityUninstall=>Uninstall
3. Run the file Uninstall.lnk

After that our product will be removed.Sometimes it takes more than one try to remove the product due to temporary technical difficulties, so please try to do it several times.
If you have any questions concerning our software, please contact our Customer Support Service.

With best wishes,

Michael: I'm surprised you got a reply from them. Not only do you have to delete Personal Security but it's likely that you have to delete the malware that may have installed Personal Security in the first place. Malware can hide dormant until it's triggered either by a certain time or date. So them saying: "Sometimes it takes more than one try to remove the product due to temporary technical difficulties, so please try to do it several times.", it's because you can expect for the program to reappear.

Also, malware such as trojans and rootkits can hide on the PC and remain undetected by some anti-spyware programs. Read this article on trojan rootkits that block or hide from security programs: http://www.enigmasoftware.com/trojan-rootkit-gen-variants-block-security-applications/.

You should double check your PC and scan your PC with SpyHunter to check for any traces of malware.

Thank you Michael D. I was able to remove Personal Security, but it was a lil to easy, it only took a sec. or two I think Caged Tech might have a point on it coming back. It probably didn't remove it maybe it just put it in a dormant state. But any how thank you.

I caught it as it was attempting to install on my computer. The file that was trying to "run" was setup_40s4[1].exe and was found in the Temporary Internet Files folder. I'm sure that the part of the name after the "setup_" is random garbage. I was able to delete that file eventually but I got some screen captures of the dialog boxes and warnings as it was trying to get on my computer. Malwarebytes AntiMalware. Get it from a clean computer, move it to the infected computer with a thumb drive and run it. It generally works. You may need to start your computer in safe mode (press F8 as you boot up from off). Good Luck!

The only way I've been able to remove the Personal Security Virus is by booting up in safe mode and selecting a RESTORE point 2 or 3 months ago and then deleting everything in TEMP folder and IE history!

Thank you very much. I didn't get a reply from "Personal Security". It was removed on the 1st try.

I have a big trouble on how to remove this personal security in my computer. it really destroy my file and i cant even download anything. Please help me solve this problem. I hope you have aresponse soon. thank.

Thanks Michael Ditkowsky!! I think I removed this nasty from my computer with your instructions you posted. Thank you thank you thank you!

I figured out how to fix this problem so I never get this malware/spyware program on my computer ever again. I bought a MAC and love it.

Thank you Michael for the easy instructions. It took Malwarebytes over 70 minutes on my computer and it was still going on before I found this site on Youtube.

As an attorney I get let this kind of injustice carry and and have hired a group to get this "company" taken care of.

What actions should be taken if I "purchased" the Personal Security?

Thanks - my son in the Army got scammed - anyone have a website for these b*tth**ds so he can get a refund.

Thanks for you help -
John

thanks so much michael for your help!i used your instructions for removing personal security from my computer, but,i still see the icon on the bottom of my pc.how can i get rid of that?also,is spyhunter safe?thanks again.linda

My poor OAP mother has just been scammed by this. She paid her money and it seems that the credit card company can't help her get her money back. I'm trying to sort it out for her but it's not looking good. I'm just looking at an email she forwarded to me that they sent. It includes an apology, a link to download the software and an activation code!! I won't put the links up just incase someone accidently follows them.

I did do a website once which petitioned against a ticket company called getmetickets.net. They ripped people off by selling tickets they didn't have. They were on watchdog etc. The site brought it to the full attention of the Trading Standards Agency in the UK and the directors were prosecuted, the company put into receivership.

I got the personal sercurity virus it got removed from the computer but when i open up internet explorer open a web page the personal security red flag blocks and redirects me back to their web site. Do you have answers on how to fix this? if so please email me. Thank you Please help if can.

I recently purchased your program SpyHunter and so far have been successful with removing personal security. However, I was one of the unfortunate individuals dumb enough to actually pay money for personal security. Now, I have no idea how to get that money back. What can I do? I have already emailed the address the company gave me and have also called their 800 number. No luck with that.

Thanks Michael Ditkowsky it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael D,
Thanks for the instructions on how to remove this phony program. This bug was installed on our laptop while viewing the pictures of Serena Williams after winning the Australian Open over the weekend. We were about to take it into a computer shop and pay up to $150 to get this trash removed. Thanks to you I was able to remove this bug, run a comprehensive scan of the system and locate all other items that were left behind by this program. No way were we going to pay a registration fee to remove a program we didn't ask for.

Thanks Again 🙂

Just tap f8 on boot up and highlight last known good configuration and it should remove it.

Personal Security locked up my computer to the point that I could not get to my personal files. I ecen called my computer repair person to come fix the problem. (I will cancel that) I was able to delete it on the first try. Thank you for the news of this fraud.

hi, I have tried to follow Michael D's directions but the PC uninstall folder appears to be empty on my computer. Has anyone tried Jam's suggestion?

Please help. My file in Common files does not have the same name as everyone elses and there is nothing in it and the weblink won't work. I have looked at other websites and tried what they say to do also. I think I've tried everything! I have homework due on Sunday and can't get anything done and I didn't even do anything. Please help me!

I contacted the Federal Trade Commission and filed a complaint against Personal Security so they can get investigated and prosecuted. Please do the same to get this company prosecuted. You can file on-line or contact the Federal Trade Commission at 1-877-FTC-HELP.

Ben #24 thank you for the removal info. It took only one try to get this terrable program uninstalled. It was very easy to follow the 1-2-3 instructions. THANK YOU!

unable to remove personal security crap, tried numerous downloads, unable to work, is there anything out there that can get ride of this problem

Thanks for any help in removing this program..my son somehow opened it while downloading a game today and it has been a bear trying to remove it.

I cant do nothing with my system after installing this personal security.Even i cant open task manager too.My laptop got spoiled. give any suggestions for removing this software.

Just removed this - I didn't use the uninstall, as I wouldn't trust it. Just pressed Ctrl-Alt-Del as Windows opened and I got access to the Task Manager and stopped PS running. Deleted all files manually - deleting the whole folder in Programs got rid of most, but there were still .dlls and register files lurking. I still have a dodgy looking entry in the register (all numbers by itself, not in a sub-folder)that I shall look at later.
Everything looking OK now.

Please help me get this off of my computer I am having a hard time taking personal security

Please Help me take off personal security

With the bases loaded you struck us out with that answer!
