Computer users that download free applications from unknown sources may end up installing Possibly Unwanted Programs on their machines. This may happen when the computer user doesn't uncheck the boxes allowing the installation of additional applications. PCTuner is one of these PUPs. PCTuner is promoted as a free program that can delete useless Registry entries and files and boost the performance and speed of the computer. However, once installed, PCTuner executes a scan automatically and then alerts the users that that their computers need an urgent clean up due to numerous, unnecessary files.
PCTuner is a PUP that often arrives on systems through free software bundles. PCTuner is created to scare users into calling supposedly toll-free phone number to repair their system. If you have installed the PCTuner program, you will be presented with an option to scan your system for errors. Regardless of the real state of your system, PCTuner will use a bright red color to highlight problems, and it will display a message suggesting you to call 1-800-407-1285 phone number for help. PCTuner may present misleading notifications and use bright colors in order to underline the necessity of contacting the people on the other end of the phone number. Users should be cautious and not provide personal information that might end up in the wrong hands. You should use a reputable anti-malware solution to avoid PUPs and other threats to your system.
