The Habrahabr.ru Web page is a privately held news platform by the Russian company Habrahabr. Habrahabr.ru offers users to post job offers and seek jobs at its open-content platform and has links to several blogs and IT sites that are favored by Russian-speaking users. Unfortunately, the Habrahabr.ru is associated with a browser hijacker that is designed to show pop-ups to promote the content at Habrahabr.ru. Reports from Web filters like Google Safe Browsing, Barracuda Web Filter, and Quettra do not reveal problems with the Habrahabr.ru site and the browser hijacker mentioned before seems to be annoying rather than a severe cyber threat. However, the passive DNS analysis of the 178.248.233.33 IP address of Habrahabr.ru reveals that it is related to the Zusy Trojan and users may want to avoid browsing the content at Habrahabr.ru. The Habrahabr.ru browser hijacker may have arrived on your computer as a browser add-on that was accompanying a free program like GameTrekkers and FreeTVDownloader.
The Habrahabr.ru browser hijacker may have modified the properties of the shortcuts you use to launch Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Opera and Mozilla Firefox to make sure that you open Habrahabr.ru first. Security experts note that the Habrahabr.ru browser hijacker may run as a background process and hide its presence by injecting code into the svchost.exe host process in the Windows Task Manager. The Habrahabr.ru browser hijacker may redirect users to untrusted domains and use pop-under windows that will suggest users to install badware like Infonaut and PC Speed Maximizer and earn pay-per-install revenue for its developers. The apps mentioned before may decrease your computer performance significantly. The Habrahabr.ru browser hijacker may prevent users from clearing their browser from tracking cookies to ensure proper advertisements display. You can remove the Habrahabr.ru browser hijacker with the help of a trusted anti-spyware utility and delete unwanted tracking cookies.
