ByteDefender
ByteDefender aka Byte Defender is a fake security application that comes from the WinPC Defender family and tries to scare users into purchasing it. ByteDefender is distributed by Trojans and once it is inside a PC it will simulate a fake system scan and report the detection of multiple malware. Of course, the scan report is fabricated and not to be trusted; it is simply displayed to scare victims into purchasing the non-existent "full version" of ByteDefender in order to "remove" the detected malware. ByteDefender may also display bogus security alerts and pop-up warnings that are advisable to ignore. Users should never waste their money by purchasing ByteDefender.
Other members of ByteDefender's family include WinPC Defender, SystemDefender, IE Defender, IE Defender, XPdefender, WinDefender2008, PC Privacy Defender, Malware Defender 2009, Smart Defender Pro, Ultimate Defender, Advanced XP Defender, Security Defender Pro 2015.
