Avsecurity.exe, along with bitsecurity.exe, are two memory processes that have been associated with a known rogue security application. Avsecurity.exe is closely related to various rogue security applications in the Internet Security's family of rogue security software. Other rogue security programs associated with the Avsecurity.exe memory process include AV Security and Bit Security, both fake security programs used to scam inexperienced computer users.

Common Symptoms that May Be a Consequence of Avsecurity.exe and Its Comrades

There are several suspicious symptoms that have been associated with Avsecurity.exe. Avsecurity.exe will often block other applications in an attempt to prevent computer users from removing the offending rogue security program. Avsecurity.exe will often also try to convince you that your Web browser is infected with threats. For example, a typical problem associated with Avsecurity.exe is that Avsecurity.exe displays a fake error message claiming that the affected Web browser was infected with W32/Blaster.Worm. In many cases, when computer users try to run a legitimate security program, Avsecurity.exe will try to convince the computer user that the legitimate security application is actually a virus or a worm.

Removing Avsecurity.exe and Related Fake Security Programs

  • Once normal access to your computer is restored, ESG security researchers recommend the use of a reliable, fully updated anti-malware application to scan your computer. This can find Avsecurity.exe and all components associated with this harmful memory process.
  • After running a reliable anti-malware program, it may still be necessary to undo certain unwanted changes made to your system settings manually.
