Adware
Adware or advertising-supported software is any software package that automatically plays, displays or downloads advertisements to a computer after the software is installed on it or while the application is being used. Some types of adware are also spyware and can be classified as privacy-invasive software.
Adware sometimes is installed in freeware or shareware which you download from the Internet and can be viewed through pop-up windows or through a bar that appears on a computer screen. Some adware is harmless but others can serve as parasites tracking your files and Internet activities only to report it back to third parties, usually advertisers, to assist them in channelling relevant advertisements to you.
