Issue Siri Not Working on Mac

Siri Not Working on Mac

While Siri on Mac is generally regarded as being more stable than its counterpart on iOS devices, it can still run into unexpected issues. If you try to engage with Siri but instead receive a response in the lines of 'Siri not available,' then you might want to try the suggestions outlined below to fix the problem.

Check if Siri is enabled

It may seem rather trivial but start by verifying that Siri is turned on.

  1. Open 'System Preferences' followed by 'Siri.'
  2. Check the 'Enable Aks Siri' box.
  3. Also, try resetting some of the other options available in the same window.
  4. Change Siri Voice to some other option instead of the default and see if it makes a difference.

Verify that Siri is restriction-free

Some users may have limited Siri, either by accident or not, through the Screen Time feature that is used to monitor usage and set restrictions on selected applications. To check if this is the case:

  1. Go to 'System Preferences' and open 'Screen Time.
  2. Select 'Content & Privacy.
  3. Turn off the restrictions completely or uncheck anything related to Siri in both the 'Content' and 'Apps' tabs.

Disable the VPN software

If you are using a VPN product, it might start to interfere with the proper functioning of Siri. The VPN might cause issues whenever Siri attempts to contact the Apple server needed to process data. To check if this is indeed the case, switch the VPN to a server from your own country or turn the app off temporarily and see if Siri is working properly again.
