Issue 'SafariBookmarksSyncAgent quit unexpectedly' Error

'SafariBookmarksSyncAgent quit unexpectedly' Error

The 'SafariBookmarksSyncAgent' is a macOS process tasked with synchronizing the user's Safari bookmarks with the iCloud. In practice, its activity allows users to add a bookmark and have it available on all the rest of their devices. However, under specific circumstances, the process may malfunction and users could see the 'SafariBookmarksSyncAgent' error message almost immediately. Follow the suggestions below to fix the problem.

  1. Check external factors

Check if your Internet connection is functioning properly. Afterward, go to Apple's system status page just to make sure that they are not experiencing an outage on their end.

  1. Look for software updates

Select the Apple menu and choose 'About this Mac.' From the available options pick 'Software Update' to check if new system updates have been released. If any show up, install them and see if the problem has been resolved.

  1. Refresh iCloud bookmarks

Try to turn the iCloud bookmarks off and then on again. Start by quitting Safari. Then go to the Apple menu and open 'System Preferences.' Select either 'Apple ID' followed by 'iCloud' or the iCloud pane, depending on your macOS version.

The next step is to uncheck the box next to Safari. Quit 'System preferences,' wait for a couple of minutes, and then go follow the same process to enable iCloud bookmarks back again. Finally, launch the Safari browser.

Bookmarks, as well as other data, should now be resynced to all your devices.
