Issue Notepad Missing In Windows

Notepad Missing In Windows

The Notepad program has been around for ages. This text editor for plain text documents was first released back in 1983 as a mouse-based MS-DOC program. Since then, it has been shipped and included in every version of the Windows OS. There is a reason for its enduring presence, as many users prefer the simple interface and streamlined features offered by Notepad when compared to other more powerful text editors.

However, some users may encounter a strange phenomenon where Notepad is missing from their Windows-based computer. Luckily, fixing the issue will not take any time at all, as Microsoft has made certain applications such as Notepad, Wordpad, and Paint to be Optional features on Windows. This allows users to remove and reinstall them any time they wish.

  1. Type settings in the search field on the taskbar. Open the top result.
  2. Locate the 'Apps' section and open it.
  3. Now, find the 'Optional Features' option and click on it.
  4. In the list of apps, find Notepad and select it.
  5. If Notepad is indeed missing, you will now be able to install it by clicking the appropriate button.
