Mouse Cursor Disappeared on Windows

When upgrading from one Operating System to another or a newer edition of the same OS, various unexpected issues might crop up. The same could happen after a major update that introduces a lot of changes to the OS. One such problem that some users have encountered on Windows 10 is their mouse cursor suddenly disappearing. Before starting to explore software solutions, though, it is necessary to rule out any hardware malfunctions. Disconnect and reconnect your mouse or if you have a suitable device connect the mouse to it and check if it works normally there.

If the problem is indeed with your computer, a good place to start is to check if the mouse hasn't been accidentally disabled through a keyboard shortcut. Usually, those include the Fn button alongside one of the F1-F12 keys. Try the following combinations and see if any of them has managed to restore the cursor:

Fn + F3

Fn + F9

Fn + F7

Fn + F5

Fn + F8

Fn + F11

If the issue is still present, the next step is to determine if the mouse is still enabled. Press the Windows button (the one with the Windows logo on it) + R on your keyboard simultaneously. In the Run dialog box type main.cpl and press Enter. Now, use the tab key to highlight the Mouse Properties window and more specifically press Tab until the 'Buttons' tab is highlighted. Then, use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move to the 'Device Settings' tab. Keep in mind that the exact name of the tab might vary according to your OS version. If your pointing device has been disabled, press the Tab button on your keyboard until 'Enable' is selected. Press Enter on your keyboard. Hopefully, this has solved the missing mouse cursor issue.
