Issue Laptop Speakers Not Working

Laptop Speakers Not Working

A lot of people using Microsoft Windows have encountered problems with their laptop speakers not working, and probably, the issue happened in the worst time possible. The root cause for this problem may be diverse, but there are many tips that may be able to assist you.

Before going forward, we need to run a Windows sound test. To complete this action click on the Search Bar and type in Control Panel. Then, in the Control Panel window, go to Hardware and Sound. Then, you will need to go to Sound, Speakers, and Headphones, and then click Configure. Once you have clicked on Configure, click on Test to check if the sound is audible from the built-in speakers. If you hear the sound coming from both built-in speakers then there might be another issue.

Worse come to worse, it may not be a software problem but a hardware problem. Hardware components in computers like sound cards can stop working. You can ensure that the sound card works fine by connecting external speakers, earphones or headphones to the machine. You can even try to ensure it works by trying to listen to a CD or MP3 file.

If you have plugged in other speakers or headphones and they also don’t work, there is a possibility that your sound card is defective. You also can check if the sound drivers are up-to-date. Almost all sound issues can be rectified by installing an up-to-date version of the sound drivers.

To check for a new speaker driver specifically, type device manager in the search box on the taskbar and open the first option. In Device Manager, locate your speakers and right-click on them. To find your speakers, you may need to click the down arrow or the plus sign to open the appropriate section by clicking the node icon in front of it. From the options given to you, select 'Update driver.' Pick the 'Search automatically for drivers' to allow Windows to locate a more up-to-date driver version or the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option if you have already downloaded an up-to-date driver version from the official maker of your speakers recently.
