How To Use Storage Sense in Windows 11
Windows 11 is the latest version of Microsoft's Windows NT operating system and it comes packed with new features and tools. One of them is the Storage Sense feature that will allow users to better manage the disk space on their computers. Depending on the user's preferences, the Storage Sense can be configured to empty the Recycle Bin, get rid of various temporary files clogging the system, and perform other storage optimization functions automatically.
Starting the Storage Sense
Before they can start enjoying the benefits of this new feature, users will need to make sure that it is activated. Follow the steps to enable the Storage Sense, if necessary.
- Press the Windows button + I on your keyboard to open 'Settings.'
- Select the 'System' tab and click on 'Storage.'
- Find the corresponding toggle and use it to enable 'Storage Sense.'
Configuring the Storage Sense
The next step is to adjust the Storage Sense's behavior according to your personal preferences. Look through the various options and pick the choices that make sense to you. For example, select if you want Storage Sense to run automatically and the frequency at which it will activate - every day, week, month or during low disk space (default). You also can adjust how Storage Sense will handle the files in the Recycle Bin, the Downloads folder, locally available cloud content and more. You also can activate Storage Sense manually by clicking on the 'Run Storage Sense now' button.
