How to Uninstall Windows Meet Now

The global pandemic caused by COVID-19 and the lockdown restrictions implemented all over the world resulted in a never-before-seen usage of video conferencing tools. Indeed, users both in their private time as well as work-life were looking for the easiest and most convenient way to establish regular video chats that provide satisfactory connection without any serious issues. To better leverage their Skype platform, Microsoft included Meet Now with an update to Windows 10. Meet Now's purpose is to allow users to set a video conference with just a few clicks. When started, it either opens Skype or the browser version of Skype depending on whether the user has the application installed or not.

The problem with Meet Now is that it was arbitrarily included in a Windows 10 update and its icon was placed on the users' taskbar without people realizing it. Users who now wish to get rid of Meet Now may need to settle with an alternative that is far easier to be achieved - instead of deleting Meet Now to simply hide it and forget about its existence. There are several methods that could achieve this.

The simplest one is to right-click the Meet Now icon on the taskbar and select 'Hide.' Another way is to go to Settings by pressing the Windows key (the one with the Windows logo on it) and I on the keyboard. Scroll down until you reach 'Personalization' and open it. Go to 'Taskbar,' and then select the 'Turn system icons on or off' entry among the provided options. All that is left is to navigate to Meet Now and toggle the slider to 'Off.'
