How to Uninstall Tuxera

The Microsoft NTFS for Mac developed and released by Tuxera is designed to provide the necessary drivers to support NTFS-formatted USB drives. Several alternatives provide similar functionality so users may no longer wish to have Tuxera installed on their systems. If this is the case, the first step of the removal process is to quit the application altogether.

Next, open Finder and go to your Applications folder. Locate the Tuxera Disk Manager.application file and drag them to the Trash. Empty the Trash to complete the uninstallation. For most users, this should be enough but those that want to remove all traces of Tuxera from their Mac system may have to delete the application's service or support files manually.

Go back to Finder. In the left pane of the window, select 'Macintosh HD' followed by choosing Library in the right-side panel. Once inside the Library folder, locate and delete the following files or folder associated with Tuxera:

 /Library/Application Support/Tuxera NTFS

 /Library/PreferencePanes/Tuxera NTFS.prefPane

 /Library/Preferences/com.tuxera.NTFS.plist

 /Library/StartupItems/TuxeraNTFSUnmountHelper

Unfortunately, this may not be the end of the process as some service files might be left in the hidden Library folder of the system. After making the folder accessible, go back to Finder but this time select the 'Go' menu, and then 'Go to Folder.' In the new window, type ~/Library and click 'Go.' Now, look through the usual locations for service files and delete any that are related to Tuxera:

 ~/Library/Caches

~/Library/Logs

~/Library/Application Support

~/Library/Preferences

~/Library/Saved Application State

All that is left is to empty the Trash once more to complete the removal of the application.
