How to Uninstall Opera

Opera is one of the most widely used Web browsers in the world and for a good reason. Users do not lack great browser choices, however, so those who no longer wish to have Opera installed on their computers can follow the guides below.

To get rid of Opera on a macOS system, all of the browser processes must first be stopped. Start by quitting the browser itself and then open the  Activity Monitor. You can start Activity Monitor through the Launchpad or by going to Finder, then Applications, and finally Utilities.  Select the CPU tab and stop all active processes associated with Opera, if any are present. Now, go back to Finder and open your Applications folder. Find Opera's file and drag it to the Trash. Unfortunately, in some cases, various service files might still be left on the system and users will have to remove them manually.

To do so, open Finder and then press the Command+Shift+G on your keyboard. This should open the 'Go to Folder' window. Type in ~/Library and click on 'Go.' In the Library window, open the 'Caches' folder and locate the 'com.operasoftware.Opera' subfolder. Remove it. Look through the following locations for other Opera-related files:

~/Library/Cookies

~/Library/Application Support

~/Library/Containers

~/Library/Preferences

To remove Opera from a Windows computer, one possible method is to press the Windows button + I on your keyboard simultaneously. This should Windows Settings. Now, open the 'Apps' section and then go to 'Apps & features.' Locate the 'Opera' browser app, right-click it, and choose 'Uninstall.' Follow the on-screen instructions till the end of the uninstallation process.
