How to Uninstall ooVoo

ooVoo was a cross-platform instant voice and text messaging platform that allowed up to 8 people to join a conference call simultaneously. It was launched in 2007 and persisted for ten years on the market before getting discontinued on November 25, 2017. Users who still have the application present on their computers but wish to remove it completely can do so by following the steps below.

For Mac users, the removal process begins with shutting down the ooVoo application. Then open Finder and go to your Applications folder. Locate ooVoo's file and drag it to the Trash. Alternatively, you can right-click it and select 'Move to Trash.' Emptying the Trash will remove the application, but some residual files might still be present on the computer. Users will have to delete them manually.

Go back to Finder but, this time, select the 'Go' menu and then 'Go to Folder...' Type ~/Library in the prompt that appears and click 'Go.' Now open the following locations and delete the corresponding files:

~/Library/Caches/com.oovoo.mac

~/Library/Caches/com.plausiblelabs.crashreporter.data/com.oovoo.mac

~/Library/Logs/ooVoo

~/Library/Preferences/com.oovoo.mac.plist

~/Library/Saved Application State/com.oovoo.mac.savedState

Do not forget to empty the Trash.

Windows users have several different methods at their disposal for getting rid of the ooVoo client. One of the easiest is to take advantage of the application's dedicated uninstaller. Open the installation folder of ooVoo and locate the file named 'uninstall.exe' or 'unins000.exe.' Start it and then follow the on-screen instruction till the end of the uninstallation process.

The application also can be removed from the Control Panel. Type control panel in the search box on the Taskbar. Open the top result and then click on 'Uninstall a program' located directly below the 'Programs' section. Alternatively, you can open 'Programs' and then 'Programs and Features.' Scroll through the list of installed programs until you have located the entry for ooVoo, right-click it, and then choose 'Uninstall.'
