How to Uninstall League of Legends

League of Legends (LoL) managed to establish itself as the biggest PC video game at a certain point, and, although this is no longer the case, it has consistently been among the most widely popular games. Enjoyed by over 100 million monthly players, LoL has indeed become part of the contemporary culture by expanding outside of the video game world with the release of several hit songs. Some users, however, may grow tired of the game inevitably or could simply need to free up additional space on their computers.

The exact method for uninstalling League of Legends depends on whether the user is on a Mac system or a Windows one. For Mac users, the removal process begins by making sure that LoL has been shut down. To do so, go to the Riot Client menu and click on the 'Quit LeagueClient' option. Now that the video game is no longer running, open your 'Applications' folder through Finder. Locate the entry for LoL and drag it to the Trash. To make sure that no residual files are left, users will have to check several locations in the Library folder manually.

Open Finder once more but this time press Command+Shift+G on your keyboard. In the window that appears, type ~/Library and click on 'Go.' Now, open the following locations and delete each of them by moving them to the Trash:

~Library/Application Support/Riot Games
~Library/Saved Application State/com.riotgames.LeagueofLegends.LoLPatcher.savedState

All that is left is to empty the Trash and League of Legends will be removed from your Mac system completely.

On Windows, users can go to the control panel to get rid of LoL. Type control panel in the search box on the taskbar and click on the top result. Open 'Uninstall a program' or go to 'Programs' and then 'Programs and Features.' Locate the League of Legends entry among the list of installed programs. Select it, right-click it, and choose 'Uninstall.' To make sure that no leftover files are still present on your system, open the location where you installed the game. Delete any setup files that might still be there. The last step of the removal process is to restart your computer.
