How to Uninstall iMovie

Mac users who no longer need the iMovie application may wish to free up some space on their hard drive by uninstalling the application. An easy and effective way to make sure that iMovie has been completely removed from your Mac system is described in the instructions below.

Start by opening Finder from the Dock on the bottom of the screen. Now, go to your Applications folder. Once inside, navigate to iMovie's file and move it to Trash. You can either drag it there manually or click on it and select 'Move to Trash' from the available options. Clean the Trash to uninstall the application.

Unfortunately, while this will remove the iMovie application some residual service files may still be left on the computer. Users will have t navigate to these files manually and delete them. The first step is to go to the Library folder. Open Finder once more but this time select the 'Go' menu, followed by 'Go to Folder.' Type ~Library/ and click on 'Go.'

All that is left is to check the following subfolders for files associated with iMovie:

~Library/Application Support

~Library/Application Scripts

~Library/Caches

~Library/Preferences

~Library/Containers

Do not forget to clear the Trash after you have removed all of the iTunes service and cache files.
