How to Uninstall FrostWire

FrostWire is an open-source peer-to-peer client that allows users to share files. Numerous applications offer similar functionality so users can choose the one that best suits their particular needs. If that is not FrostWire, you can follow the simple steps below to get rid of the application completely.

Mac users can start the removal process by first stopping all active processes of the FrostWire application and then quitting it from the Dock. Now, open Finder, and go to your Applications folder. Locate the FrostWire.app file and drag it to the Trash. Alternatively, you can right-click it and choose 'Move to Trash.' Emptying the Trash afterward will uninstall the program but that may not be enough to remove all of the files associated with FrostWire completely. Users may need to delete certain service or support files manually.

Open Finder once more, select the 'Go' menu, and choose 'Go to Folder.' In the window that opens, type in ~/Library and click on 'Go.' Once inside the Library folder, you will have to check the following location for FrostWire-related files and folders, and then delete them:

~/Library/Application Support/FrostWire
~/Library/Caches/com.FrostWire.Setup
~/Library/Preferences/com.FrostWire.Setup.plist
~/Library/Saved Application State
~/Library/LaunchAgents
~/Library/LaunchDaemons
~/Library/PreferencePanes
~/Library/StartupItems

On Windows computers, users can remove the FrostWire application through the Control Panel. Type control panel in the search box on the Taskbar and open the top result. Click on 'Uninstall a program.' Alternatively, you can click on the 'Programs' section and then go to 'Programs and Features.' Both paths will lead you to a list of all installed programs. Locate the entry for FrostWire, right-click it, and then select 'Uninstall.'
