How to Uninstall Camtasia Studio

The Camtasia Studio is a video recording application that also comes packed with video editing features. The application allows users to record videos from their screen and audio from any connected microphone. Users who no longer use the application either due to losing interest in video editing or switching to a different program can follow the instructions below to remove Camtasia Studio from their computers completely.

Mac users should start by quitting the Camtasia Studio from the Dock if the application is running currently. Then go to the Applications folder, locate the application's file and move it to the Trash. While the uninstallation process should now be completed, some service files could still be left on the system and will have to be removed manually. Open Finder, select the 'Go' menu, and choose 'Go to Folder.' Type ~Library/ and click on 'Go' to access the hidden Library folder. Once inside, go to the following locations and delete any files associated with Camtasia Studio. Keep in mind that some of the files might be named after TechSmith, the developer of the Camtasia app.

~Library/Application Support/TechSmith
~Library/Caches/com.techsmith.identityprofile.data
~Library/Containers/…
~Library/Preferences/…
~Library/Cookies/…
~Library/LaunchAgents/…

After you have finished deleting the files, do not forget to empty the Trash.

Windows users who are having trouble deleting the Camtasia Studio application through any of the normal methods can try to uninstall it manually. Start by closing Camtasia. Then open File Explorer, enter the C:\Program Files\Techsmith\ path and delete the Camtasia folder located there.

The next step is to open the Run dialog window by pressing the Windows button + R on your keyboard. Type regedit in the Run window and press OK. While it may seem daunting at first, navigate through the left column until you have found the following two folders and delete them:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TechSmith\Camtasia Studio\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TechSmith\Camtasia Studio\

This should have removed all traces of the Camtasia Studio from your computer.
