How to Share Files Between Windows 10 and Your Android Device

The ubiquitous nature of smartphones and tablets is increasingly impacting our daily routines to the extent that their usage, in some cases, rivals that of traditional computers. Despite the proliferation of these devices, we still require both computers and mobile devices for work and leisure. As a result, there are many instances when we need to transfer files between our computers and mobile device. Bluetooth and USB cable are two common methods that come to mind. However, these are not the only options available for file transfer.

Transfer Files between Your Computer & Android Device via Your Google Account

Google Drive is a versatile platform that enables you to perform a wide range of actions, including uploading, viewing, sharing, and editing files. When you send a file to Google Drive, it will consume space in your Drive, even if you upload it to a folder owned by another user.

Google Drive supports various types of files, including documents, images, audio, and video. With this platform, you can easily manage your digital files and collaborate with others in real time.

If you need to upload files and folders to Google Drive, there are several methods available to you. One option is to visit the drive.google.com website or use the desktop application on your computer.

To upload files or folders from the website, go to drive.google.com on your computer, click 'New' at the top left corner of the page, and select 'File Upload' or 'Folder Upload.' Select the folder or file you choose to transfer, and it will be added to your Google Drive account.

Another way to upload files is by dragging them directly into your Google Drive folder. Simply go to the drive.google.com website, open or create a folder, and drag the folders or files you want to upload into the folder.

If you prefer to use the Drive desktop application, you can download and install it on your computer. Once installed, you will see a folder called 'Google Drive' on your computer. Drag and drop files or folders into that folder, and they will be automatically uploaded to your Drive account. You can access these files from the drive.google.com website.

Alternatively, if you wish to upload files to your Drive from an Android device, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Drive application on your Android device.
  2.  Tap Add.
  3.  Tap Upload.
  4.  Locate and tap all files you wish to upload.
  5.  View uploaded files in My Drive until you move them.

Transferring Files via USB Cable

You can also easily transfer files between your Windows 10 System and Android devices by connecting them with a suitable USB cable.

  1. Unlock the phone or device.
  2.  Using a USB cable, connect the phone to your computer.
  3.  Tap the 'Charging this device via USB' notification that will appear on the device.
  4.  Under 'Use USB for,' select 'File Transfer.'
  5.  On your computer, a file transfer window will appear. Use it to drag the files you wish to transfer.
  6.  When you're done, eject your phone from Windows.
  7.  Unplug the USB cable.
