How To Reset Firefox

Firefox is among the most widely used browser and with good reason. It offers useful functionality and a wide variety of customization options. However, with prolonged usage, any browser may start to become sluggish or even suffer from more serious consequences, such as frequent crashes or glitches. A quick way to try and fix these issues is to reset the browser to its default settings. However, before proceeding, keep in mind that the majority of your current browser settings will be impacted by the reset. These may include the default search engine, homepage, default startup tabs, new tab page, pinned tabs, cookies and site-related data and more. Depending on your specific device and OS, go to the appropriate instructions outlined below. 

Reset Firefox on Windows and Mac systems

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Go to its menu icon and select 'Help.'
  3. Now, select 'More troubleshooting information.'
  4. Locate and click on 'Refresh Firefox.'
  5. Finally, confirm your decision by clicking on the new 'Refresh Firefox' button. 
  6. The browser will close itself and will revert to its original settings. A summary window showing all imported information will be displayed afterward. Simply click on the 'Finish' button. 

Reset Firefox on an Android device

  1. Go to your device's Settings menu and tap on 'Apps.'
  2. Locate and tap on the Firefox app.
  3. In Firefox's 'App info' menu, tap on the 'Storage' section.
  4. Here, locate and tap on 'Manage Space.'
  5. From the available options, select 'Clear all data.'
  6. Finally, confirm your decision by tapping on 'Ok.'
