'Finder Quit Unexpectedly' Error

If you’re a longtime Mac user, chances are you’ve run into the Finder Quit Unexpectedly error. The error must relate to how your macOS system handles interactions with the Finder. This pesky error appears when you try to open or close the Finder program on your Mac, and if you don’t know how to fix it, it can be extremely frustrating. The Finder Quit Unexpectedly Error may occur when:

  1. Mac OS version 5.1 or later.

  • Run Disk Utility and repair permissions on their Macs
  • Remove duplicate files from their Mac's hard drive
  • Run a virus scan to ensure nothing else is causing the problem
