Discord Keeps Logging Out

Discord is one of the biggest free platforms offering VoIP, IM, streaming and more. With millions upon millions of users, Discord has established its place in the digital space. Unfortunately, like any other software product exactly, users may encounter various issues ranging from nothing more than mere annoyances to critical problems that prevent Discord from even starting. One issue that falls somewhere in the middle is being logged out constantly. The exact causes for this particular problem are hard to pinpoint but there are several solutions that may help in resolving it.

Enable the Two-Factor Authentication

If your account has been flagged by discord mistakenly, enabling 2FA (Two-factor authentication) could fix the problem. In addition, it will add another layer of security to your account in case you fall victim to a scheme or a hacker attack.

  1. Open Discord and go to 'User Settings.'
  2. Select 'My Account.'
  3. Click the 'Enable 2-Factor Authentication button located in the right-side panel.
  4. Enter your current password and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
  5. Log out and then back in again to Discord.

Clean the DNS Cache

DNS issues could be the cause of the random Discord log-outs. If this is indeed the case, cleaning the DNS cache could help. 

  1. Type command prompt in the search field on the taskbar and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to open an elevated Command Prompt window.
  2. In it, type the ipconfig/flushdns command and press Enter to execute it.

Delete Discord’s Cache

  1. Open a Run dialog box by pressing the Windows key + R on your keyboard.
  2. Type %appdata%\discord in the Run box and press Enter.
  3. In the location that opens, find the 'Cache,' 'Code Cache,' 'GPUCache' folders and delete them.
  4. Restart Discord.

If nothing helps and you are still experiencing random log-outs from Discord, you can always try contacting the official support. Open Discord's support page and submit a ticket with an accurate description of the problem. The official support team will notify you about any potential fixes or if there are problems with the account itself.
