ESG security researchers have issued a warning about the VirusFighter fake security program. As of December of 2011, VirusFighter is still prominently featured in legitimate online file download websites and its websites still show up in Google searchers. However, VirusFighter is a fake security program that will eventually have its online presence reduced severely, thanks to the efforts of PC security researchers. However, there is a small window of time between the moment when a program like VirusFighter is released and when PC security researchers become aware of its true colors. Criminals try to exploit this gap by creating large amounts of clones of their rogue security programs in order to reach as many victims as possible in that time. Do not believe what you read, VirusFighter is a dangerous infection disguised as a security application. The criminals behind this dangerous malware infection use a misleading online marketing campaign to attract customers and to make it appear as if this fake security program is legitimate. The company behind this malware infection, SpamFighter, is actually an outfit that is closely associated with rogue security programs and criminal activity. They have designed their online campaign so that VirusFighter will feature prominently on search engines and on software download websites such as C-Net or Softonic. They have also hired fake commenters and bloggers to promote their product. However, VirusFighter is simply one more fake security application created to embezzle your money.

General Facts About VirusFighter

VirusFighter claims that VirusFighter can detect and repair virus infections on your computer system. It allows the user to use VirusFighter for 'free' for 30 days, making VirusFighter a tempting download for inexperienced computer users shopping around for an anti-virus program. However, VirusFighter is designed to spam its victims with constant fake error messages and to create fake security reports and system scans. VirusFighter may use Trojans to slow down your computer, block legitimate security programs and affect how you connect to the Internet. It may also hide some of your files and spam you with pop-up windows. Many computer users will find that, once installed, it is quite difficult to remove VirusFighter from an infected computer system. Fortunately, most fully-updated, reliable anti-malware applications should be able to detect VirusFighter and recognize VirusFighter for what VirusFighter is. ESG security researchers recommend booting Windows in Safe Mode and removing VirusFighter with a legitimate anti-malware tool.
