Trojan:HTML/Ransom.D

By Domesticus in Trojans

Trojan:HTML/Ransom.D is a ransomware Trojan that propagates via an HTML page, also known as a lock screen. Trojan:HTML/Ransom.D is used by cybercriminals to distribute ransomware programs such as FBI Your PC is Blocked Ransomware and Interpol Department of Cybercrime Ransomware. While being installed, Trojan:HTML/Ransom.D shows a bogus image/pop-up notification on the screen of the targeted machine and locks the computer by not allowing the affected PC user to access it. The frightening pop-up warning message created and shown by Trojan:HTML/Ransom.D accuses victims of downloading and distributing illegal files to other computers and asks them to pay a fine of a certain amount of money via Ukash, Paysafecard, Green Dot MoneyPak and Ultimate Game Card to restore access to the PCr and evade imprisonment. A tricky alert is allegedly sent by the governmental authority in order to fool computer users into thinking it is an official notification. Even if you pay the ransom, you won't receive an unlock code to regain access to your PC.
