The SnapSearch browser plug-in can be found on SnapSearch.co and users may install it unknowingly by handling a freeware bundle with the 'Express' or 'Typical' option. The SnapSearch plug-in is developed by the infamous SuperWeb LLC. Security experts remind users that SuperWeb LLC. is responsible for the deployment of adware and browser hijackers like Storimbo, Webget and PodoWeb. Contrary to what the official page of SnapSearch claims, this adware-powered plug-in does not have a version for tablets and will not optimize your searches on Google. The SnapSearch application is deemed as adware and may change your default search engine to Snap.do, which is associated with a browser hijacker and redirects the user's web traffic to potentially harmful websites. Security experts note that the SnapSearch adware is compatible with all major web browsers and can push marketing materials in the form of banners, coupons, discounts and pop-up windows. Just as other adware, SnapSearch will use tracking cookies, DOM storage data and collect non-personally identifiable information like your entered search keywords and browsing history to show related ads. The SnapSearch adware may decrease your browser performance and prevent you from enjoying videos on the Internet. The primary goal of the SnapSearch adware is to show advertisements, and it may connect to the Web via insecure channels. Security experts reveal that the SnapSearch adware may place its files in the hidden AppData folder and store its cookies in the Windows directory. Therefore, you may want to use a reliable anti-spyware tool to clean all files related to the SnapSearch adware and avoid potential security problems.
