SiteAdware, a member of the infamous FakeSmoke family, is a malicious anti-spyware program that persuades unsuspecting users that their machines are infested with malware. When SiteAdware is inside a system, it starts a fake scan of the entire computer system. A scan report is then produced, claiming that the system is infected with numerous computer threats. SiteAdware may also display other security warnings and pop-up messages, informing the user of the infections and advising the user to purchase the full version of SiteAdware in order to completely remove the detected infections. SiteAdware is incapable of performing any legitimate security software functions; do not purchase this rogue application.

SiteAdware, as its family members, is able to infiltrate the victim's system with the help of Trojans. SiteAdware family members include WiniFighter, WiniShield, SaveKeep, SaveKeeper, SoftSafeness, TrustWarrior, WiniGuard, SecurityFighter, Security Soldier, SecureVeteran, Secure Warrior, Trust Cop, Safe Fighter, Trust Soldier, Virus Protector, BlockDefense, Security Soldier, TrustNinja, SaveDefense, SystemCop. These Trojans tend to disguise themselves as useful programs in order to get users to download and execute them.
